Poster Analysis Tonatiuh Bieletto Trejo

In the poster the focal point and the unique selling point of the film is actors Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. They are the focal point of the poster as they are the biggest objects in the picture. They are placed at the centre of the poster to get the viewer's attention. The title 'The Island' has its own unique font which is related to the film. The Title has a metal effect to it. The poster shows us the names of the two main characters. As they want the audience to recognise the big name actors in the movie. The poster is aimed at a more mature audience. The poster would not attract a younger audience, as the layout and the picture is not set up to attract young audiences. The poster conveys action and thriller as the characters are running and there is helicopters in flight and explosion in the background, which shows major action scenes involved. The tagline in the poster is 'Plan your escape'. This sets up expectations of people being held captive, and the captives trying to escape. In the background of the tagline there is a picture of two helicopters flying above hundreds of people running, dressed in white clothes. The picture of Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson shows them running, with determined facial expressions. They are both wearing casual clothing. They are used as the unique selling point as they are well known actors. Above the title its tells the viewers its 'a Micheal Bay film'. Also Micheal Bay is a well known director so people who have seen his movies or heard of them will be likely to watch the movie. Under the title it says 'from the director of Armageddon and The Rock' which also will  hook the audince as they are well known films that had good ratings, so the audience will relate those good films with The Island. At the bottom of the poster they show us in small writing the sponsors and film companies associated with the film.

  1. 1) who is the posted aimed at and how can you tell?
    2) What elements of genre are communicated to the audience?
